R&D Strategy

The Technology Center of the Group Headquarters was accredited as a Provincial-level Technology Center by the Jiangsu Provincial Economic and Information Commission in 1998. In 2006, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of the People’s Republic of China approved the establishment of a Postdoctoral Research Workstation. Taking the construction of the Provincial-level Technology Center and Postdoctoral Research Workstation as an opportunity, the Group has strengthened the development of its corporate technological innovation system in terms of organizational structure and operational mechanisms. In view of its involvement in multiple industries with wide-ranging distribution, the Group has established its proprietary technological innovation system. Centered on the development needs of the enterprise, the Technology Center carries out scientific research in sectors including new energy vehicles, graphene new materials, medium and high-horsepower tractors, environmental vehicles, textiles, home textiles and agricultural technology.

Up to now, the Group has 489 full-time R&D personnel, among whom 131 are technical professionals with senior professional titles and 56 are expert-level staff holding doctoral degrees. The Group holds more than 370 patents in total. Meanwhile, the Group attaches great importance to industry-university-research cooperation through university-enterprise alliances. It has built sound cooperative relations with over 20 domestic and overseas universities and research institutions, including the Hyundai Kia Automotive Research Institute of the Republic of Korea, Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Southeast University, Donghua University, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Nanjing Agricultural University, the Quartermaster Equipment Research Institute of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army, Shanghai Polytechnic University, Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Luoyang Tractor Research Institute, Jiangsu Agricultural Machinery Research Institute, Jiangsu University of Science and Technology, Shandong Agricultural University, Jiangsu University, Jiangnan University, Xi’an Polytechnic University, Tianjin Polytechnic University and Yancheng Institute of Technology. The two sides have collaborated on special R&D projects in automobiles, engines, new materials, agricultural machinery and textiles, yielding fruitful results.

To continuously elevate the enterprise’s technological capabilities and core competitiveness, the Technology Center will keep track of forward-looking technologies worldwide, fully introduce, digest and absorb advanced technologies at home and abroad, and strive to make breakthroughs in a number of core and generic key technologies driving corporate development. Major progress will be pursued in new material research, new energy vehicles and the application of innovative textile technologies. The Group will unswervingly push forward the R&D and application of new materials such as graphene, textile fibers and fabrics to realize their industrialization and large-scale production at an early date. Scientific and technological innovation will be leveraged to upgrade the Group’s existing traditional industries to cut energy consumption. The Group will vigorously develop new technologies related to green economy, circular economy and low-carbon economy, so as to seize the commanding heights of the new round of technological innovation.
